What is Extracorporeal Pulse Action Technology (EPAT®)?
Extracorporeal Pulse Action Technology (EPAT®), also known as Shockwave Extracorporeal Shockwave Technology (ESWT) is an FDA approved innovative treatment option for many painful musculoskeletal disorders. EPAT® improves the body’s regenerative potential which in turn speeds up healing and recovery. It has been found to address poor blood flow to the affected area and reduce inflammation.
Evidence based results are successful on trigger points, neck, shoulder, arm & elbow, wrist and hand, back, pelvis and hip, thigh and knee, lower leg and foot and ankle. Sports injuries and overuse injuries can heal with mobility restored in rapid time. The non-invasive EPAT® therapy emits pressure waves to stimulate blood flow and metabolism for the injury to heal faster and for you to get back to your activities.

What is an EPAT® treatment like?
EPAT® therapy is non-invasive and pain free. The treatment works by helping to improve the regenerative potential and enhance blood circulation to regenerate damaged tissue. Patients generally see results after approximately three to four sessions. Each session is relatively brief – coupling gel is applied to the area and then the EPAT® applicator is pressed against the skin in a circular motion for about 5-10 minutes. You would be able to resume exercise within 24 hours. At Atlantic Medicine & Wellness, our goal is to get you back to doing what you love.
